Vocation story
As I reflect on my journey, I am reminded of the wise words of St. John Henry Newman, “True happiness is not found in any other reward than that of being united with God.” My passion for the Catholic priesthood began at a young age, and the experiences of my high school formation played a significant role in shaping my life. The daily routine of prayer, studies, and community life taught me discipline, empathy, and the value of good relationship with God.
My life, generally, has been a transformative one. Particularly, my intellectual journey through philosophy resonated deeply with me. I questioned the meaning of life, existence, and my purpose. Existentialist philosophers like Martin Heidegger inspired me to understand the importance of living authentically alongside others, as such, I was able to understand my calling; the vocation to serve God as a priest through service to the church and God’s people.
Throughout my life, I have learned to appreciate community, have empathy for people, and understand the faith. My experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures, made me to realise that despite our differences, we share a common humanity, and that the plan of God is to see that all may gain knowledge of Him and gain inheritance in His presence. My interest in the church’s teachings have helped my personal growth and have widened my perspective about life.
The deep personal relationship I have with Jesus Christ is nurtured through prayer, reflections, visitation to the Blessed Sacrament and the reception of the Eucharist. While reflecting on my vocation, I trust and believe in the power of intercessions of Our Mother Mary and have as well experienced her guidance and perpetual help. My faith remains my anchor, comfort, and joy. As I move forward in the journey of discerning my vocation to the Catholic priesthood, I trust and rely solely on God’s providence, to deepen my understanding of His word, learn to love and forgive and see God in every person I meet. I aspire to be a beacon of hope, bringing joy and peace to those around me, and serve as an instrument of God's love. I know there will be challenges and difficulties, but I am confident that with God by my side, I will overcome challenges and find happiness, peace and sanctification.
